Folks,
We are starting the first year of Greystone Woods Disc Golf Club Bag Tags!
Here's the short ( courtesy of http://www.explorediscgolf.com/encourag ... -bag-tags/)
Bag tags are a wonderful way to encourage friendly competition on a disc golf course, all the while creating revenue for the club. Courses typically put in a small investment to purchase a determined amount of bag tags, and then sell them to players for $20-25. The revenue created from the bag tags helps with course finances or growing the sport in a local community. While the money raised typically goes towards course upgrades, the spirit of bag tags fosters a friendly, competitive environment for players to challenge one another throughout the season.
Disc golf bag tags
Numbered bag tags should be visibly clipped onto bags, encouraging friendly competition through spontaneous challenges.
While the number of bag tags at a local course is determined by how many the disc golf club purchases, a fair number is usually 25 tags. When you originally purchase a bag tag, you get the number given to you — let’s say for this example you are #15. Now the main rule of bag tags is pretty simple: you can challenge any bag tag holder at any time. The purpose of bag tags — besides encouraging friendly competition and creating revenue for your club — is to obtain a higher number bag tag throughout the season, ultimately ending the year with #1.

Greystone Woods DGC - Bag Tag Challenge Rules
Conduct
1. The purpose of the Bag Tag Challenge is to encourage friendly competition among Greystone Woods Disc Golf Club members. Everyone is on their honor to conduct themselves according to the rules and within the spirit of competition. Have fun. It's only a tag.
2. In order for the Bag Tag Challenge to work, all challenges must be accepted within the allotted time frame.
3. Each player must have their Bag Tag at all times.
4. Failure to have your tag with you during the round will be considered an automatic loss of the challenge.
5. Challenges are to be made by choosing times and courses that are reasonable.
6. Repetitive misconduct will result in losing your tag privileges for the season.
Challenges
1. Challenges will run for the entire calendar year
2. The higher Bag Tag challenges the lower Bag Tag. Challenges can be by phone, computer, or in person. It is preferred to use the bag tag challenge section in the Greystone Woods DGC forum.
3. When it is not possible to play immediately, the challenged player must give the challenger two (2) times to meet within the next four (4) weeks or they must forfeit the tag#. If the challenger cannot meet within that timeline, the challenge is void. Not showing up for a match results in a forfeit of tag #.
a. If\When any player is going to be late they must inform the other within 15 minutes of the schedule match.
b. Any player that fails to inform the other of running late forfeits their tag or loses that challenge after 20 minutes.
4. If the players can not agree on the course, layout, and format then the default is an 18 hole round of white tees and stoke play.. Format choices include: stroke play or match play but no doubles/triples etc. of any kind. PDGA rules apply. If the challenger wins the round, the tags are exchanged.
5. Ties are won by the holder of the lower bag tag at the beginning of the round. However, if ALL players agree before the round starts; a play-off hole(s) can be used as a tie-breaker using sudden death rules.
6. It is permissible for players to play immediate back-to-back tag rounds, provided the players agree to participate again. However, it is not required for any player to accept an additional same day challenge if a tag round had already been conducted
7. Incomplete round: If a player does not complete a bag tag challenge round, the exiting player should trade tags with the player with the highest tag number. If play is stopped by all players before the round is complete, no tags are exchanged. This could be due to hazardous weather, physical emergency or mutual agreement.
8. TOURNAMENTS/LEAGUES: All MUST participate in challenges at tournaments or club events. Tags MUST be turned in prior to start of play.
a. The tags are thrown into a pool and distributed by score at the end of the tourney/league not round by round. No sudden death to decide ties and final nine rounds/playoffs exempt from challenges.
9. Players using different tees in tournaments are competing against only other players using the same tee format.
Ranking
1. Tags will be issued at the Greystone Woods Day One Event (New Year’s Day).
2. Lowest score gets lowest tag.
3. Players joining after the start of the year will receive the lowest available tag.
